In this practice session you save wireless network settings to a USB flash drive and use these settings to join a wireless-enabled computer to the network. Practice 1: Saving Wireless Network Settings to a USB Flash Drive In this practice you generate settings that enable you to connect wireless-enabled devices for example, computers and printers with wireless cards installed to your wireless network. You can use the same technique to configure your wireless router if wireless routing is implemented by a Windows Vista computer with a Wi-Fi adapter. When you install them on a network, you configure third-party wireless routers by following the manufacturer s instructions. This practice assumes you have configured a wireless router and have a computer running Windows Vista connected to your network. As stated in the Before You Begin section at the beginning of this chapter, you can carry out the practice by first connecting your wirelessenabled computer to the network with a hard-wired connection and then disconnecting it and connecting it wirelessly. However, it is a lot easier if you use two computers, the first connected with a wired connection and the second you intend to connect wirelessly. 1. If necessary, log on by using an administrator account. You can use the parent_admin account that you created in 4 or the Kim_Ackers account that you created when you installed Windows Vista. 2. Open the Control Panel and click Network And Internet. 3. Click Network And Sharing Center. Under Tasks, select Set Up A Connection Or Network. 4. In the Set Up A Connection Or Network Wizard, shown in Figure 7-12, select Set Up A Wireless Router Or Access Point. Click Next.

5. In the Add Network Entities dialog box, select the destinations that this rule will apply to. For example, if the rule should apply to all Internet requests, expand Networks, then click External. Click Close. 6. On the Web Chaining Rule Destination page, click Next. 7. On the Request Action page, shown in Figure 5-7, select how the request should be processed. You have three options:

Redirect Requests To A Specified Upstream Server In this case, the Web request is routed to the server that you specify. We haven t covered functions yet, but it shouldn t be hard to figure out what the example code is doing. Working forward, down the chain, we start with userID, bound by two further variables called realName and status. These two variables call functions with userID as a parameter, both of which return a string whose contents depend on the userID passed in. A string called display adds an extra layer of binding by using the two bound variables to form a status string. Merely changing userID causes realName, status, and display to automatically update.

Note When configuring Web chaining, you can also configure chained authentication by selecting Allow Delegation Of Basic Authentication Credentials. By default, if both the downstream and upstream proxy servers require authentication, users with Web Proxy clients will be prompted for credentials by both ISA Server computers. If you use basic authentication for user authentication, you can configure the downstream server to pass the credentials to the upstream server by enabling basic authentication delegation.

6. If a UAC dialog box appears, click Continue. 7. The wizard searches for a wireless access device by running the Detecting Network Hardware And Settings utility, as shown in Figure 7-14.

To configure Web chaining, select Redirect Requests To A Specified Upstream Server and then click Next. 8. On the Primary Routing page, shown in Figure 5-8, in the Server box, type the name of the server to which this server will send the requests. You can also specify the port numbers for HTTP and SSL and configure an account that will be used to authenticate at the upstream ISA Server. Click Next.
