For each profile, it is possible to turn the firewall on or off and configure the inbound and outbound connection settings to either block or allow traffic. There is a further setting for inbound connections, which is Block All Connections, which means that any configured inbound exceptions will be ignored. This is the default setting on the Public profile. It is important to note the difference between the default settings for inbound traffic, it will block unless told otherwise and for outbound traffic, it will allow unless told otherwise. Most stand-alone products block by default in both directions, so if you are used to configuring other firewalls, it will be necessary to remind yourself that Windows Firewall with Advanced Security works differently.

(The FX.getArguments() function is how we get at the command-line arguments, by the way.) The extension is set to PNG files, so walk() will act only on filenames with that ending. But look at the way action is assigned. Rather than pointing to a function elsewhere, the action code merely defines a nameless (anonymous) function of the required type right there as part of the assignment. This is an anonymous function, a define-and-forget piece of code assigned to a variable of function type. It allows us to plug short snippets of code into existing classes without the inconvenience of having to fill up our scripts with fully fleshed-out functions, making it ideal for quick and easy event handling.

Now your users report that they are unable to put files on the FTP server. What must you do to correct the problem

Clicking the Customize button in the Settings area of each profile brings up the Customize Settings For The Selected Profile dialog box, as shown in Figure 8-9. From this dialog box, it is possible to configure whether a notification is displayed when a program is blocked from receiving an inbound connection, to configure how the computer responds to multicast or broadcast network traffic, and to deal with rules when you have configured some for Windows Vista and others are applied through Group Policy. It is unlikely that you will need to worry about the broadcast, multicast, or rule merging technologies on the 70-620 exam.

Application filters work with the firewall service in ISA Server to intercept and process network packets as they pass through ISA Server. ISA Server application filters can be used to implement various types of functionality on ISA Server. Web filters extend the functionality of the firewall service in ISA Server by providing advanced filtering capability for HTTP packets as they pass through ISA Server. One of the most important Web filters included with ISA Server 2004 is the HTTP filter. Many Internet applications now use HTTP to tunnel the application traffic. The only way to block these types of applications without blocking all HTTP traffic is to use HTTP filtering. HTTP filters are applied on a per-rule basis. To configure the HTTP filters on a particular access rule or Web publishing rule, you must modify the HTTP policy for that rule.

Access modifiers (package, protected, public, public-read, public-init) We round off our look at classes by examining how to keep secrets. Classes encapsulate related variables and functions into self-contained objects, but an object becomes truly self-contained when it can lock out third parties from its implementation detail. JavaFX s access modifiers are tailored to suit the JavaFX Script language and its declarative syntax. Access modifiers can be applied to script members (functions and variables at script level), instance members (functions and variables inside a class), and classes themselves. They cannot be used with, indeed make no sense for, local variables inside functions. (See listing 3.3 for an example of different types of variables.) There are four basic modes of visibility in JavaFX Script, outlined in table 3.1.

In this exercise, you will plan an ISA Server configuration for a fictitious organization. Read the scenario and then answer the question that follows. If you have difficulty completing this work, review the material in this chapter before beginning the next chapter. You can find answers to these questions in the Questions and Answers section at the end of this chapter.

If several Windows Vista computers are in a domain environment, it is possible to configure each computer to have the same settings using Group Policy. This vastly simplifies the management of firewalls in large environments. The 70-620 exam does not cover Group Policy topics.
